Gumani Tshikovhi
Client Director
Gumani joins Old Mutual Corporate from Ninety One’s South African institutional team where he was a Client Director. He was responsible for servicing some of the largest investment consultant firms, multi-managers, medical aids and retirement funds in South Africa and a few other countries on the continent. The role directly oversaw client management, retention and sales. He comes with over 16 years of industry experience.
The Investments Servicing team as well as the new Strategic Partnerships team will report into the Client Director. The role further strengthens Old Mutual’s already strong client facing OMC team, ensuring the continued elevation of the level of conversations with key clients, building meaningful multi-tiered relationships and delivering meaningfully on client expectations.
Lindiwe Sebesho
Managing Director
Lindiwe Sebesho is the new Managing Director (MD) designate, effective 1 August 2023. She will succeed industry veteran René Richter, who retires at year end.
Lindiwe is a Master Reward Specialist and a renowned thought leader in remuneration, reward and talent management solutions. Her expertise includes delivering innovative total reward strategies to clients, fostering talent attraction, engagement and retention amidst global challenges. Whilst at Barloworld Group and Barloworld Equipment, she successfully integrated human capital, reward and talent management strategies to support business growth. She has also been the President of the South African Reward Association (SARA), a professional organisation that develops reward professionals and advances total reward practices in South Africa for two terms.
Marian Gordon
Regional Head of Investment Consulting
Recently promoted to Regional Head of Investment Consulting at Simeka, Marian leads a team of investment consultants in providing advice to institutional clients. Along with her new leadership position, she remains a Principal Investment Consultant to several large standalone clients, crafting innovative and dynamic solutions to improve member outcomes.
Ferdi van Heerden

Momentum Metropolitan has appointed Ferdi van Heerden as CEO of Momentum Investments, effective 1 September 2023. Ferdi will succeed Jeanette Marais, who has recently been appointed as Group CEO. As part of this appointment, van Heerden will also serve on the Momentum Metropolitan Group Exco and various Momentum boards.
Van Heerden currently serves as CEO of Momentum Global Investment Management (MGIM) in the United Kingdom and on various Momentum Metropolitan boards internationally. He spent the bulk of his decades long career at Momentum, during which time he played key leadership roles in acquisitions as well as large scale business improvement and integration projects in many parts of the Group.
Lulama Booi
Chief Executive Officer, International
From 1 October 2023, Lulama Booi will join the Group Executive Committee as the executive responsible for Africa (Botswana, Ghana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia), India and more locally – Group Facilities. Lulama will also serve on the Metropolitan Exco to increase synergies between Metropolitan and Africa.
As Head of Balance Sheet Management (BSM), she played a critical role in formulating the BSM strategy and aligning it with the Group strategy. Lulama led various key strategic projects for the Group FD and CEO’s offices, including leading the Momentum Metropolitan iSabelo employee share ownership scheme from start to final implementation. She has served on a number of Group governance committees related to capital, investment decisions and product management.
Nothando Marasha
Retail Portfolio Solutions
Our Retail Portfolio Solutions team has also been strengthened further by the appointment of Nothando Marasha as an investment analyst. Nothando joins us from Stanlib and has four years of experience in the investment industry. Nothando will work with Taruvona Mashamhanda to ensure that we optimise our Africa portfolios.
Frank Sibiya

We are pleased to announce that Frank Sibiya, a seasoned investment professional with 14 years of experience, joined us on 3 July 2023 in our Corporate Portfolio Solutions environment, further bolstering our team.
Naheem Essop
Deputy Pension Funds Adjudicator
Naheem Essop practiced as an attorney where he represented certain pension funds before joining the Financial Services Board (FSB) in 2015, later becoming the FSCA, in the Retirement Funds Division. In April 2020, he joined the Office of the Pension Funds Adjudicator as its Senior Legal Advisor. He also served as an alternate member-elected trustee of the FSCA Pension Fund. Naheem’s appointment as Deputy Pension Funds Adjudicator took effect from 1 August 2023 for a period of 3 years.
Ronel Ferreira
Wealth Manager
Ferreira joined the industry in 1999 as a broker consultant for Liberty Group. In 2002, she joined Progressive Wealth as a wealth adviser and later as one of its directors. Having grown in her role at Progressive Wealth over the course of more than two decades, Ferreira developed several key proficiencies. These include providing bespoke financial planning services and investment services to high-net-worth clients.
Ferreira holds a BCom degree in Economics from the North West University, Potchefstroom. She also holds an advanced diploma in financial planning from the University of the Free State as well as a BCom Honours degree in Financial Planning from the University of Johannesburg.
Peter-John Marais
Wealth Manager
Peter-John Marais, who will be working alongside Ronel Ferreira in Bryanston, has also worked for a list of top-tier financial sector brands including the Liberty Group and Investec Asset Management (both in South Africa and the UK). Marais joined Progressive Wealth in 2007, starting as a financial adviser and later becoming a company director.
His accomplishments include a BCom Honours in Industrial Psychology from the University of Johannesburg. He also holds an advanced diploma in financial planning and investments from the University of the Free State.
